Privacy Policy
Last updated
Koemoji is a Japanese learning app for iPhone. This policy explains what the app handles, where it goes and why. We keep it short and literal, and we update it whenever the app changes.
What the app processes
- Episodes and files you add. A podcast episode, or a video or audio file you pick from Photos or Files, is sent to our servers so that it can be transcribed and translated. A video file is sent as its sound only. The transcript comes back to your iPhone and is kept there.
- Your settings. The language you speak, the app theme, and sentence mode are kept on your iPhone.
- An install ID. A random identifier is kept in your iPhone's Keychain so that the monthly free minutes work, including after a reinstall. It is not linked to your name or email.
What we do not collect
Koemoji does not require an account. The app does not read your contacts, location, or photo library beyond the single item you choose to add. We do not sell data, and we do not show ads.
Service providers
Transcription and translation run on servers we operate and on AI services we use for that purpose. Files you upload are stored only as long as needed to produce the transcript. Podcast episodes are fetched from the show's public feed, so the show's publisher may see the download as it would from any podcast app.
Deleting your data
Deleting an item in the app removes it and its transcript from your iPhone. Deleting the app removes everything except the install ID in the Keychain. To ask about anything held on our servers, write to support@koemoji.io.
Children
Koemoji is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Major changes will also be noted in the app.
